Ear Infections...

Babies get ear infections. It happens.  It happens a lot.  Cadie got her second one this past weekend.  That’s when I learned that babies get a lot of ear infection.  I know what you’re thinking, “You didn’t know this?”  When you consider that I was 36 when I got married and 45 when Cadie came to live with us, it’s sorta like this “I don’t know nothing bout raisin no babies.”

So Saturday nite we were up with her, until about 2 a.m.  Finally, we had to say “you’re going to bed,” and off she went without so much as a whimper.  Do you ever think we’re making thing too hard.  Sunday morning came – got up without me.  The baby started to cry.  None of which I heard.  A half hour later, they both came to wake me up.  Janet had determined that Cadie had an ear infection in her left ear.  Being super dad (or super granddad) I quickly leapt into action, and got up and dressed and off to the hospital.  Four hours later, the doctor with his many years of experience, confirmed Janet’s diagnosis and we set off for the drugstore.  I’m not going to bore you with the details, but it took a very long time to get the prescription and get back home.

We finally got home at about noon.  We tried to put Cadie down for a nap, but she wasn’t having any of it.  So Janet, Cadie and I were pretty tired and cranky for the company we had coming at 1:00 pm.  That all turned out pretty well and by 5:30 pm Cadie was asleep and 2 ½ hours later so were Janet and I.

Ain’t parenthood grand.

New Approach

I though I'd take a new approach to this blogging thing. I've always wanted to write and keep a journal. So I thought I'd combine them into this blogging thing.

I also thought I'd try to make this a nearly daily thing. Especially since the whole adoption process has slowed down. We're still doing it but with getting Cadie , changing jobs, and moving, it is nearly impossible to continue with the adoption at the speed we wanted. But as the Bible says "His ways are not our ways". So we just have to continue on.

I know this thought has occurred to others, but it seems to me that if you are pro life, you are also pro adoption. What I mean is it would seem that these organizations that make such a fierce stand against abortion would make an equally fierce stand for adoption.

I'll give you an example the Southern Baptists (I'm Southern Baptist), I took some time and searched there web site for any information they have for support of adoption, and found very little. Of course I'm not going to stop there, I'm going to start writing the leadership of the Convention and see if this is something that we can change.

I think we all need to get on this bandwagon, children can't help themselves.

Before I go let me share a picture from Cadie's first birthday.
