They're Amazing...

It's been over a year now since we've brought Katie home and each day I find her more fascinating the one before.  Janet says that folks in the 20's or 30's don't really appreciate children the way we do.  She says she didn't.  I don't know if that's true, but I find it absolutely amazing.

When Katie first came into our lives, she didn't crawl, or sit up, or show much interest in anything.  She couldn't or wouldn't hold a bottle.

Now it's a whole new ball game.  She walks, she talks, she's the AMAZING Katie!!  Right now her favorite word is "No!!"

A few weeks ago we were in a McDonald's for breakfast, and Katie was being fairly obstinate.  Janet told her to do something I don't quite remember what.  Katie told her "No".  Janet looked at her and said "Don't tell me no!."  To which Katie replied "NOOOOOOOOOOOO!"  I had to hide my face in my napkin.

It really is funny how children go from being a spongelike blob that soaks up the money from your wallet to this spongelike little person who still soaks up the money from your wallet.  I keep telling her she needs to go get a job to contribute to the household.  But I've told our cats the same thing for 12 yrs to no avail.

She's really enjoys going for walks in the afternoons after I get home from work.   Lately she's gotten quite fascinated with dandelions and blowing on them and watching the little umbrellas fly away.  It's really interesting when she tries the same thing with buttercups.  What do you expect she's only two?

One of her favorite things is to take something that looks like a microphone and sing into it.  And she does sing. And she does sing loudly.  It is both funny and cute at the same time.  Did I mention that she was amazing.   There could be some bias there.

Take care til next time.

Jim
